-- one of their finest design conceptions.  It is just
resplendent here on this 10.25" x 7" oval tray and i
n BTEF condition, three pinpoint picks in the dentils and a tiny nick on one of the lower corners.
The blank is the best of the best -- heavy, brilliant, colorless with no distortion and incredible clarity.  The perfect size for either cabinet or table display.
Many
Willow
pieces have the pattern cut up through the rim, with a scalloped edge biting out portions of the pattern.  The rim treatment here, to my eye, is much nicer in the overall effect and avoids showing the rosettes with big chunks of them missing.
WILLOW
is the perfectly apt name for this cutting -- see how the wide, clear channels appear to bow, or bulge out.  The effect is created by cutting the broad, 90 degree channels shallow at the ends and deeply towards the center.  The bowed illusion this creates perfectly reflects how actual Willow wares appear.  This pattern is often called 'Lattice and Rosettes' which misses the point of the design -- lattice work is flat; it does not curve upward, or bow.
A true rarity and a standout in any collection from beginner to advanced.
