Until now big press bars were heavy, hard to position accurately, hard to move on and off the hydraulic press bed, and very expensive for what you get. It’s quite possible your 100 or 150 ton press bars need replacing.
Peened over edges can cause bars to unexpectedly “kick out” under load, with catastrophic results.
We were asked to develop bars for larger shop H-frame presses and we came up with the following solution.
For the first time ever,
virgin prime military grade armor
has been converted to peacetime use as “light weight” press bars for H-Frame shop presses.

This Super Steel material is very strong and amazingly, it’s not brittle like tool steel.
According to the specification this bar could be bent into a horseshoe shape without breaking, if you had the force.
This material is rated to withstand multiple bursts of 50 caliber rounds as well as explosive rounds, IED’s, and has extreme impact resistance.
Our Super Steel 100 Ton Bars are for use on presses with a front to back inside bed gap of 10.5 inches or less.
They measure 2” X 3.25” X 16” long and they weigh in at a modest (compared to other big bars) 30# each.
There are 2 notches that may be positioned vertically for straightening or horizontally for other work.
These bars have a Yield Strength of over 150,000psi - that’s probably 3 times stronger than your present bars.
These bars have a Rockwell C hardness of well over C52
(Brinell - 480 Min).
This Super Steel contains expensive alloy materials like Chromium, Nickel, and Manganese giving Super Steel its strength.
