    Description

1794 Middlesex Newgate Prison Payable at Residence of Mess'rs Symonds Interbotham Ridgway and Holt: Great Britain Conder/Provincial Token D&H 393 Colonial: Collectible
Due to the shortage of Regal coinage in the 1790's and the fact that the population of Great Britain had nearly quadrupled, the masses were forces to either create non-regal coinage of George III (1760-1820) or with permission from The Crown, they produced their own copper coinage to be used as change for workers and business customers.
These Provincial or Conder Tokens were widely produced so based on the image or business depicted on these tokens they have been collected and used both throughout Europe and here in the US.
Thanks for looking, other items listed might hold interest, I enjoy early US Colonial coinage and several items currently listed.
Thanks for looking, International please inquire, No China.
