    Description

    This listing is for a beautiful cut glass tray that measures about 10 inches long.  I purchased the tray from a reputable local dealer who had years of experience with cut glass. In 1977 when I bought the tray I believed it to be a signed Hawkes piece. It has beautiful cutting with lovely rounded teeth. It is quite heavy. It has the clear stamp of Hawkes with trefoil shape two hawks and the company name just below.  I still believe that it could be an American piece but I do have some doubts. I cannot get it to fluoresce apple green. I read that American glass does not always have the manganese content to produce the fluorescence. GOOD NEWS: When I got a 16 inch long wave black light the tray fluoresces a perfect apple green. We placed a signed Libbey goblet beside it and they both are the same color. The willow bands have ridges whereas most of the Hawkes pieces I see pictured have smooth bands. Condition is described above. We are always happy to answer questions or provide additional photos.
