Description
This Victorian Circa., 1890's Oct.(agonal) Hobstar Cane Pattern Rose Bowl Measures 14" Circumference at Mid-Section, by 3-5/8" Tall, by about 4" Width, and is an Original Brilliant Cranberry Pink Cut To Clear. The top hole measures 2-1/8" diameter, and top rim lip varies slightly in width to nearly 1/4" at widest, and is ground smooth; with glass being 1/4" thick. Base is slightly recessed, measuring 2-3/8" diameter. Pontil area of base is ground polished and covered by a 24 point cut star. Bowl has 8 rows top to bottom, and rows alternate by 12 cranberry octagonal hobstars, separated by 11 double mitered diamond 'fine' cut cane sections (or 23 total sections in all) which surround the exterior of the bowl. Piece is in excellent condition without heavy scratches, chips or cracks, andweighs 14.2 ozs., unpackaged. The maker is not identifiable to me for certain, but am inclined to think it's Dorflinger.
