    Description

    This cut glass bowl measures approximately 8 1/4" in diameter and 2 1/2" tall. It is quite heavy, weighing about 3.6 pounds. The glass blank is about a half of an inch thick. The alternating fern and hobstar pattern is very nice, with a nicely cut base. I don't know the maker of this, but there is a very similar pattern pictured in Pearson's American Cut Glass for the Discriminating Collector on page 98, in a jelly compote. There is no maker given for that piece either, but the fern motif was cut in different variations by many companies. This has several teeth that have been chipped off, as well as some small chipping around the edge. It is a very clear blank of excellent quality. It glows green under the black light.
