    Description

    Welcome to
    ANTIQUES & MOORE!
This listing is for an stunning American Brilliant Period cut glass whiskey decanter made by  Hawkes in the amazing BRAZILIAN pattern, c. 1890. This pattern is made up of diamond shaped blocks using a variety of designs that include crosshatching, clear triangles, fan, and large exterior fans. Beautiful clear-button 8-point hobstars also decorate the body with crosshatching between each point. The base is finished in a large multi-point star that covers the entire base. The slender neck is paneled with two horizontal bands encircling the neck with a diamond cut knob below the mouth. The large stopper is fully cut with a facet cut all-over design and is marked on the flat end with the Hawkes trademark stamp with "Hawkes" below. The wood wheel polish makes the cutting especially brilliant and prismatic. This is one of the most decorative and nicest decanters you will find from this period and made by one of the most recognized glass houses. The T. G. Hawkes Co. was founded in 1880 in Corning NY.
    Measures 15 3/4" high (including stopper) , 13" high (bottle only) with a 1 1/8" mouth and a 3 1/2" diameter base. Weighs slightly over 3 pounds.
This fabulous decanter is in very good to excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaw being a faint chip on the inside of the neck at the mouth area that is totally unseen when stopper is in place. There may be a tiny nick or two on the edges of the design from normal wear and handling although we did not find any issues to mention. The stopper appears to be in excellent condition with no noted flaws.
