This necklace measures 22 inches in length and has a large hook closure clasp.
Venetian glass millefiori beads have complex patterns that reflect the multi-step process of construction.
Designs are endless, and by going through the process is polymer clay instead of molten glass, more people can understand and appreciate them.
Native American tribes traded pelts and other

colors of hard, glass beads without having to
shape and drill them themselves. This trading eventually caused the waning of the use of porcupine quills and bone and shell beads. It also lead to an evolution in beading patterns and techniques, influenced by styles in the larger culture.
Millefiori Literally meaning a thousand flowers. Is one of the oldest and most well known techniques still in use in Murano. It is used to describe small mosaic cross sections of glass. The process involves stretching and shaping regular arrangements of multicoloured rods of glass. Normally the colours are added and a shape is created before the molten glass is stretched into a long thin cane. The cane can then be cut to size for use as beads or placed on a gather of molten glass (pea) for inclusion into murrina paperweights or blown vases.
A chevron is a bead type produced from a cane known as a Rosetta. They were drawn from a hollow cane typically with six thin layers of glass, traditionally white, blue, white, brick red, pwhite then finally blue. This was then ground to produce patterns with five concentric stars with twelve points. The canes were chopped allowing large numbers of beads to be produced from each production run. Later, this cane was produced without the hole and Millefiori canes were born.

Copal Amber beads are not the same as amber beads. Copal is also a tree resin, but it has not completed the fossilization process, and it is softer and tends to be more opaque. These Copal Amber bead were purchased 25 years ago to be used in jewelry designed necklaces. Some of the beads That were used back then are no longer on the market today, nor is the quality the same. These copal beads are very unique and I was only able to obtain a limited quantity to incorporate in my designs.
