"ALICE" - The French bark "Alice" stranded on the Long Beach Peninsula in the State of Washington on January 15, 1909. She was loaded with a part cargo of cement destined for Portland, Oregon but missed the entrance to the Columbia River due to bad weather. The ship was soon buried in the sand but her masts stood out of the surf for many years, being firmly anchored in the solidified cargo.
