Description
Very Early S.A. Weller Pottery Company No.59 Jardiniere in Blended Glaze, with Molded Lions, 8.5” TallUp for auction is an extremely early and very scarce S.A. Weller Pottery No. 59 Jardiniere. This planter is illustrated in an undated Weller Catalog presented in Frank Norman’s 2015 book, “Collecting Weller Pottery”. The copy of this early undated catalog is on page 274, the bottom right corner.
The Jardinere is square, 8.5” Tall, 9.5” Wide and as usual is unmarked. Except fora small hairline and a chigger bite, this piece is in exceptional condition fora piece of very early utilitarian ware. Few of these early utilitarian pieces can be definitely linked to a specific manufacturer as most early Zanesville pottery companies manufactured similar type pieces.
This Jardiniere is sold “as is”.
I continue the slow process of reducing the large number of “miscellaneous pottery pieces”in my overcrowded storage area.
As this pottery is not part of the core collection, it has been “SURPLUSED” to free up space.
It is priced to sell.
I try to provide the best pottery identification/information as to its manufacture, line, age, glaze-type and any defect on each piece placed in an auction.
If I am wrong, please contact me to set the record straight and I will revise the auction listing.
Most of these miscellaneous pottery pieces” have been in either my father’s or my collection for decades.
Some were obtained more recently.
I have 40+ years of experience on American Art Pottery and use the proper methods to ship pieces safely across the U.S, regardless if they are common or rare.
I use plenty of new packing material to ensure each item arrives in the same condition I shipped it (i.e. properly sized Uline boxes, bubble wrap, Styrofoam peanuts, etc).
I also require
each item be fully insured by the USPS mail service.
See other auctions for additional pottery and I try to list at least 10 additional pieces each week. Contact me if you have any questions on this piece of pottery.
