Description
The Weller Pottery produced the Sicard line from 1902-1907. This line is sometimes referred to as Sicardo. This line was created by Jaques Sicard and Henri Gellie. This line was costly to make but kept Weller at the top of the market. Collectors should look for crisp, clear, properly fired designs, nice forms and signatures on the body. Here we have a 8 1/2 inch tall Sicard jardinière or planter. Perfect art nouveau design with morning glory flowers and vines. This bowl is in good condition. Good rich color. Displays well.
Good planter in good condition in that it has no scratches, no repairs, no restoration. NO CRAZING. There appears to be an issue with the glaze as it looks like it got too hot in the kiln and removed some of the design. There are 2 pimples from the clay. There is one spot on the rim that has a few flakes and a possible hairline which is difficult to find (see last picture). Any imperfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The white spots are studio light reflections.
All images are original and unedited. Authentic Weller Pottery. I cannot locate a signature..
