Description
For auction is a very nice piece if art pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The item is a largejardinière
and the glaze is done in the very popular and highly collected deep Bedford Matte Green. This
jardinière
is large as it
stands
6 1/8" tall and is an 8 1/2" in diameter at its widest point at the shoulder. The opening is 6 3/4". The foot has a diameter of 4 5/8".
This
jardinière
displays a tapered shoulder form with a turned in top lip with large opening. The glaze is one of Weller's best and highly collected Bedford Matte Green.
In my eyes it was probably the nicest and deepest green available on the market at the turn of the century. Roseville, Grueby, Hampshire, Teco all had their matte greens but I must say the green in the Weller vase was the nicest monotone glazes you can find among them.
The jardinière is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is crazing and can be seen up very close inspection and is pictured. The piece is unsigned but it has that painted blue green bottom that is
synonymous
with Weller. This is a good as a signature. There are a few glaze irregularities but nothing too obtrusive.
This is also a well documented Weller pattern and glaze. Those of you who decorate in the arts and crafts, mission style will surely welcome this accessory into the home. It will also enhance any matte green art pottery collection.
This would look outstanding with anyone decorating with Stickley or mission arts and crafts furniture.
I'm sure the buyer will be very please with their purchase. The Bedford Matt Green line was considered an middle period line by Weller Pottery and this jardinière was made circa 1915-1925.

I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July of the year 2020.
I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments
. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the
merchandise
unless it is paid for.
They are also n
ow charging all sellers a commission of 11.7% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 11.7%. This is an increase of 8.8% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 11.7% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
